Introduction
Keezaogai Adikailasanatha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Keezaogai village, Kudavasal circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. The Shiva temple located in the town of Keezaogai is more than a thousand years old. Here the Lord is called as Adikailasanathar and Mother is called as Gnanambika and Pranavambika are here separately sanctum.
Puranic Significance
The Lord has a sanctum facing east side of the temple. There is a small Nandi altar in front. Ambika both are have separate rooms facing south. On one side of the gate of his sanctum sanctorum there is Vinayaka and on the other side there is a Subramani.
In front of the Lord there is a long concrete front hall in which Nandi is displayed beautifully and majestically in a small hall outside. An altar on a platform before it. The sanctum sanctorum is a stone carving from the Chola period with its wonderful carvings and a vimana stone carving. It is special that Dakshan Murthy is not located here in the Koshta but is brought to the temple in the south. On either side of him are two Bhairav Murthys. In North side, Vishnu is in separate mandapam. Under the tree are some nagas. Nearby are Bairavara sanaicharan and Surya are presented in the temple.
