According to the name Kattumayilur, this town is surrounded by government protected forests. The Lord is alone in the company of peacocks and deer. The temple complex is spread over an area of two acres, which is not suitable for the town. In the middle of the complex, the Lord is seated in the temple towards the east and to the left of him is a Nandi mandapam outside the temple.

In the temple, there is a very old banni tree is located on the left side. Under it, Parvati, and there are two Lord Nagas, and the daughter of sage Bharata are there. The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old. Here the Lord’s sanctum sanctorum is constructed in Chola period style with a stone plinth and a vimana brick above it. Lord Vishnu is slightly ahead of Sandesar in the northern line of the Lord. The reason for this is unknown. In Prakara, Selva Vinayagar, Annamalaiyar, has a Nandi in front of him. Next there are Perumal and Murugan shrines. Here the lord is facing east side of the temple. In the north-east there is Bhairav, the Sun and the Moon are presented in the temple.
