Legends:

  • The ruler of the region during the 6th century was Bhutala Veera Udaya Marathandan. He divorced his wife due to a disagreement, and he regretted not having an heir. After performing the Kartihaka Soma fasting, a boy was born to the king by the grace of Lord Shiva. • Childless couples who worship at this temple are believed to receive the blessings of Lord and Goddess, leading to the birth of a child.

Annual Festival: The temple hosts the annual ‘Tulsi Marriage Celebration’ during the Dhuvatasi and Triyotasi festivals of the month of Ipasi. This festival is held as a form of penance for couples who are getting married, living together in harmony, those who are living separately due to differences of opinion, and those who wish to reunite.
