Introduction
Karukudi Kailasanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Karukudi village, Valangaiman circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. This temple, which was a big temple in the past, got disintegrated over time and came under the banyan tree. It seems that only Vinayagar brought to the temple. The villagers have also set up a long tin shed for Lord Shiva. Here the Presiding deity is called Lord Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Manomani. The Lord is facing east and there is a small Nandi altar in front. Manonmani Amman is towards the south and under the nearby tree are the beautiful Murugan and a Nagar, two ancient Nandi’s are there. The temple is said to be more than 1500 years old.
