Introduction
Kalkunam Uthirapadeeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Kalkunam village, Kurichipadi circle, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. Kalkunam is a small village; here the Presiding deity is called as Uthirapadeeswarar and Mother is called as Thirukuzhalvadivammai.
Puranic Significance
This Shiva temple is a temple that was elevated to the status of a temple from earlier Manmadhan temple. The temple is recently built and has beautiful carvings on the facade of the hall. The Temple is believed to be more than 1000 years old. Lord Uthirapadeeswarar is a small lingam. Vinayagar and Murugan are on either side of the sanctum sanctorum. Opposite to the lord is Nandi. There is also a Bhairava shrine nearby the sanctum. Karurai Kottam has Tenmugan lingotpavar Brahman Durga. Sandesar is also in the temple. Navagrahas are in the northeast of the temple. Although the temple is small, the villagers maintain it well. In the morning itself, the shrines are illuminated and decorated with flowers.
