Historical Significance: Kakapora is a historically significant place associated with King Avantivarman of the Utpala dynasty and is mentioned in the Rajatarangini, a legendary and historical chronicle written by the Kashmiri historian Kalhana. The temple itself has a rich history, with its construction dating back to the 10th century CE.

Architectural Features: The Kakapora Temple is constructed in the center of a courtyard enclosed by a peristyle. Unfortunately, only the base of the sanctum and a few cells of the peristyle have been preserved. In the temple premises, you can find a sculpture of a female deity.
