Introduction
Sri Brundaban Chandra Krishna is worshipped at the Kunjakanta Temple. This temple is located in the Dhenkanal Town on a hill. Rajarshi Surapratap Singhdeo who was devout and a spiritually inclined person built the temple. His Baishnav Guru, his holiness Madhusudan Goswami of Brundaban recommended Raja Surapratap to construct the temple. The image of Sri Radhakrishna was established and the ritualistic pattern of Brundavan was adopted. Kunjakanta Temple is located in the Dhenkanal Town on a hill. It is situated at Odisha.
Puranic Significance
Kunjakanta Temple was built by Rajarshi Surapratap Singhdeo (19th Century), a religious and spiritual person, on the recommendation of his Baishnav Guru. At present, the Kunjakanta Temple has Jhulan Mandap, Rasha Mandap with Astha Sakhi and the rituals are conducted throughout the year. Devotees visit this temple to look for fulfillment of the relief from diseases. People also visit this temple to get a relief from unpleasant effects from bad terrestrial aspects. The image of Sri Radha Krishna was established and the ritualistic pattern of Vrindavan was adopted. Late Parvati Charan Das, the then Debottar Magistrate aided the king in constructing the Kunjakanta Temple. After the initiation in to ‘sanyasa’, Debottar Magistrate came to be known as Baba Padmacharan Das. However, after the poignant premature demise of the king, Rani Krishnairiya took up the holy liability of the temple, who also wrote the book ‘Kunjakanta Janana’.
