Introduction
Mahadeva Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Devalfalia Village in Ranapur Tehsil in Jhabua District in Madhya Pradesh, India. The temple is situated at about 12 Kms from Ranapur on Jhabua to Jobat route.
Puranic Significance
The temple is believed to be built in 11th century CE by Paramara rulers. This temple is facing towards west and stands over a platform. The temple follows Bhumija style of architecture. The temple is pancharatha on plan. The temple consists of sanctum and antrala. The temple was extensively renovated in recent times. The stones added recently give a different hue to the temple. The top portion of the shikara was completely rebuilt.. Nataraja, Andhakasura Vadh and Chamunda are the niche idols located around the sanctum walls. The exterior is carved with Surasundaris, Yakshas, Gandharvas, Nayakas, and Nayikas.
