Introduction
Chandrapadi Somanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Chandrapadi village, Tharangampadi circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. Chandrapadi is a coastal village. This town, which is 2 kilometres east of Poovam / Nandalaru bridge, where the border areas of Nagai-Karaikal districts. It is said that this place is also called Chandrabadi because the moon worshiped the Easan. Here the Presiding deity is called as Somanathar and Mother is called as Meenakshi.
Puranic Significance
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. This is a small Shiva temple in the middle of the town and a Mariamman temple is also nearby. Lord Somanatha Swamy is in the east facing sanctum and Goddess Meenakshi Amman is in the south facing sanctum. In front of the Lord are the Nandi and the altar. At the gate of the sanctum sanctorum there are Ganesha and Subrahmanya, and on the other side is Mahalakshmi. A hall connects the two sanctuaries. Tenmukhan and Durga are the only deities of Sanctum sanctorum. Sandesar is in a separate shrine.
