Introduction
- Location: Sarjapur Road, Agara, Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
- Deities: Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra.
- Main Festival: Annual Rath Yatra, attracting more than fifteen thousand devotees.
- Temple Management: Maintained by the Shree Jagannath Temple Trust of Bangalore.
Puranic Significance
- Deity Statues: The inner sanctum houses statues of Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra carved from sacred neem logs (daru) and seated on the bejeweled platform (ratnabedi). Other statues include Sudarshana Chakra, Madanmohan, Sridevi, and Vishwadhatri.
- New Temple Opening: The new temple opened on May 17, 2015, with a large pooja ceremony from May 17-23, 2015. The deities were transferred to the new temple during this time.
- Rath Yatra: On the auspicious day of the Rath Yatra, the deities are seated on a chariot adorned with flowers, lights, and jewels. The chariot, covered with a red canopy, is pulled by dense ropes, accompanied by aarti, religious chants, hymns, and rhythmic drum and cymbal music.
