Introduction

Avamanbaruthiyur Kalyana Varadaraja Perumal Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, located in the Avamanbaruthiyur village, Kudavasal circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. This East facing Shiva temple is located in the Avamanbaruthiyur village and the temple is on the west bank of Periyakulam. Here the presiding deity is called as Kalyana Varadaraja Perumal and Mother is called Mahalakshmi

Puranic Significance 

        A three-tiered Rajagopuram has been built in the east, whereas earlier there was only the south gate. School and canteens have encroached on the temple site and only the gate is visible. The name Parithiyur later became Baruthiyur because of the blessings of Sun worship this lord.

It is said that the south of Gotandaram, Sita, Lakshmana and Anjaneya were worshiped by Lord Surya who was on the bank of a big pond, and another Shiva temple on the bank of a small pond was completely destroyed and was attached to the Perumal temple complex. When the Perumal Temple and Rama Temple were completely rebuilt, the Kalyanavaradaraja Perumal sanctum sanctorum has been kept in the eastern part of it and these Shivalingams and Nandi vinayakar Thandayuthapani Ambigai idols have been placed there. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.
