Introduction
It is a small island in the river Mahanadi named after its presiding deity Paschimesvara, Goddess Amangei and there is an ancient temple of Lord Balunkeswar (Paschimesvara) Mahadev (Lord Shiva). The left bank of River Mahanadi, Amangeikuda at Kandarpur Village 10kms downstream. Kuda is river island in odisha. The road offers possibly some of the spectacular views of Mahanadi and the riparian forests adjacent to it. On architectural plan decorative features the vimana section of the temple can be assigned to 9th century AD. i.e, during the somavanshis rule in Orissa. However, the pidha Jagamohana and pillared mandapa possibly be added later during eastern ganga era. The temple is sculptures are in ruins, plants are grown around the temple and wall. The broken Nandi placed outside the temple with surrounded four pillars. Amangeikuda is situated very close to kandarpur village of athgarh subdivision of cuttack district. It can be approched from the right side of Athagarh-cuttack road braching at a distance of 5km from Kaitha chowk.
