Introduction
The Navabrahma Temples in Alampur, Telangana, are a group of nine early Chalukyan Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Each of these temples holds its unique significance and historical value.
Puranic Significance
- Taraka Brahma Temple: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is one of the Navabrahma temples. It features a curvilinear Shikara tower above the sanctum and is known for its intricate carvings.
- Swarga Brahma Temple: Located near the Tungabhadra River, Swarga Brahma Temple is another shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has unique architectural features and intricate sculptures.
- Padma Brahma Temple: Situated behind the Swarga Brahma Temple, the Padma Brahma Temple is the largest among the group. It features complex pediment designs and has a large hall, inner sanctum, and circumambulatory path.
- Bala Brahma Temple: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Bala Brahma Temple is known for its large pillared Varandah and Nagara architectural style. It has intricate carvings and sculptures.
- Garuda Brahma Temple: Another temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Garuda Brahma Temple is similar in plan to Vishwa Brahma Temple. It features a Nandi installed in the Maha Mandapa.
- Kumara Brahma Temple: This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is situated opposite the museum in Alampur. It has a unique appearance with a polished stone sculpture of Shivalinga.
- Arka Brahma Temple: This temple, also dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located on the southern side of the Vira Brahma Temple. While it is in a somewhat ruined state, it retains its historical and architectural value.
- Vira Brahma Temple: This temple is another part of the Navabrahma group and has a distinct architectural style, featuring Shikara towers and sculptures.
- Vishwa Brahma Temple: The last temple in the Navabrahma group, the Vishwa Brahma Temple has a unique design with a curvilinear form and carvings of various deities.

Festivals
Sharan Navaratri is the biggest festival at Alampur Temples. The concluding event, Theppotsavam (boat festival) is an eye-catching event held on Vijaya Dasami at Krishna – Tungabhadra Sangamam (confluence of River Krishna and Tungabhadra). Shivaratri is also celebrated here
