Introduction
Nerumbur is 15 KM from Kalpakkam, 28 KM from Chengalpattu and 80 KM from Chennai Nearest Railway station is Chengalpattu. Even though the temple is in dilapidated condition Lord Shiva is under worship. The primary deity is Thiruvaleeshwarar and Thirupurasundari as ambal. The temple is facing east. The 3 tier Rajagopuram built with brick is on the south side. The raja gopuram is in slanting condition and may collapse in few years. The compound wall is missing. The temple was built with sanctum sanctorum, antarala, arthamandapam. The sanctum sanctorum is on a simple prathibandha adhisthana with padmam. In koshtam only Durgai. Other deities are Vinayagar and Bhairavar. In between the pilasters kumbhapancharam beautifully chiselled. There is no Vimana over the sanctum. The Chozha period inscriptions are on the kumuda. Inscriptions of the Vijayanagara period are also found on the adhisthana. The Temple might have constructed in the Chozha period and later patronized by the Vijayanagara. Now the temple is on the verge of collapse. Vegetation and trees had grown over the sanctum, this may also add to the demolition.
