It is located 5 km from Kumbakonam. The name has been derived from an event. When a king stayed here, he was woke up by a bird’s sound, the incident was called as “KirrichamPadi” (Kirricham – a bird, Padi – sings). From that the name slowly changed to Kadichambadi. Kadichampadi Vaishnava Temple near Kumbakonam. Soundararajan Temple is an old Hindu temple located in Kadichambadi village near Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu, India. It is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. According to Hindu mythology, the site was the place from where Vishnu gave glorious appearance to Bramma. The eastbound temple has SoundarajaPerumal, Sri Devi, Boodevi, SoundaravalliThayar shrines, Hanuman, Karudalwar, Andal, AlwarUpasannathi. There is a temple pond here. This temple has a royal tower. This temple is under the control of HRCE. The temple is completely ruined. The Rajagopuram of Soundararajan Temple comprises three phrases. The main entrance of the temple faces eastwards (there was formerly a separate complex for karudan which is now shifted to the temple entrance). The centre of the temple consists of a separate complex for Sri Soundararajan Perumal which is east facing. There is also a separate complex for Sri Soundaravalli and Andal.
