Puranic Significance
This is an ancient temple worshiped by the kings of Trivandrum. A small palace has been set up on the banks of the river Barali around the Thiruvattar temple to accommodate the royal family of Travancore. The kings who stay in the palace get up early in the morning, bathe in the ‘Ramar Theertham’ stairway of the Barali river and first come to the Kulasekara Perumal temple with a sword and worship. After that, the people of the area say that they will worship at the Adigesava Perumal temple. Kulasekara Alwar has been the emperor of the Chera nation which included Kerala. The Travancore dynasty came from his family. That is why the kings of Travancore are also known as the Kulasekara Crown Prince.
