Introduction
Kavanoor is one of the Jain heritage centre and located 3 kms north from near Arakkonam town. There is a degenerated Jinalaya in the Village, which reveals the place is more glorious in ancient years. Many Jains had been living in yesteryears. But at present there is no Jains in the village. The remnants consist of Garbahriha with narrow entry passage. So the old arthamandap and other pavilions were demolished and taken away. The crowned Viman also removed except the base beems. The wall granite blocks are separated by no bonding mortar. But luckily the non-structure layout portion of Jinalaya is vacant nowThe sand stone structure influences that the temple belongs post period of 7th Century AD. Before that mud soil, lime, sand and wood were used for constructions. The village Jains might be lived in 6 th Century AD or earlier. Only the descedents of origin were construct the temple. Unfortunately no Jains population is here. . The good-hearted people of the village preserve the Moolavar Idol of Shri Parshwanathar in overturn position, to avoiding damage, to the adjacent of nearby Perumal temple. The stone plate carvings exhibits five-headed snake canopy, two whisk devars in raising posture, a prabha circle on the back of head are itched. The interested individuals (Bavyars)/association of abandoned Jinar statues and ruined Jinalayas, must unit and taken a decision to construct a New temple to the Legends in the same places.
