Introduction
Saleshwaram temple is a Lingamaiah temple (Shiva temple) located in Nagar-karnool district of Telangana. The temple is inside a cave in Nallamala forest near Shrisailam. The ancient Saleshwaram Swamy temple of 6th century AD, located deep inside Nallamala forest in Lingala mandal, is about 1,000 feet deep inside a valley. The annual fete is celebrated every year on Chitra Pournami. The significant feature of this temple is that, it will be opened only for 3 to 5 days during Chitra Pournami or the full moon day in March/April. It is famous for its wedge-shaped water fall, which seems to have been chiselled across a huge stone. The Shiva Linga is in a cave next to the waterfall. Lingamaiah Jathra, a fair will be organised in Saleshwaram temple, once in a year. It attracts thousands of devotees towards the temple. Devotees from across Telangana and neighbouring districts of Andhra Pradesh arrived in huge numbers to offer prayers to the presiding deity lord shiva on the auspicious day of Chitra Pournami. Saleshwaram is located 25 km away from Farahabad entrance point. The devotees have to walk at least 6 kilometers to reach the temple located down the valley. It is an arduous walk since there are sharp rocks all along the ground. The cave ruins brick. There are plenty of buses from Achampet and Nagarkarnool bus depots to reach Saleswaram
