Introduction
Kolilinathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Kuvalaikkal Town in Nannilam Circle, Thiruvarur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as kolilinathar and Mother name is not known. In the centre of the town is this Shiva temple is located in the east facing side. To the north of the temple is a large pond. Thirukuvalai temple is the name of the Lord and the name of the Lord who did without the sins of the planets. All the planets will do well to the servant of Easen. So Navagraha is not bad for the worshipers in this temple. The temple is believed to be 500 years old Shiva temple.
Puranic Significance
The Lord has the sanctuary facing east and the Lord facing south. The Lord is majestically presented with a square pedestal. At the gate of his shrine are the small Ganesha, and the deities Murugan and Thenmugan. In front of the Lord is the beautiful Nandi. On the outside of the temple there is a lingam, a small nandi, two nagars and a linga panam in the cutting area. Near the gate on the south side is ebony with a scepter. Such stepping stones are usually used to divide the boundaries of the temple grounds.
