Introduction
Kokkur can be reached by crossing the railway line directly south from Kuthalam and going four km. Small village, here are the temples of Ayyanar, Mariamman and Perumal Shiva. There is a large pond in front of the Shiva temple. The temple is a thousand years old. The Kailasanathar Temple with Tripurasundari has been in a state of disrepair for over 60 years. The herbal paintings painted in the temple testify to the antiquity of the temple. Apart from Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, it is in this temple that Goddess Tripurasundari bestows blessings in a separate shrine. The temple has been open for the last 7 months and is currently conducting a one-time puja. The villagers have decided to renovate the temple and work has begun. The Shiva temple is very dilapidated. The Ganesha shrine is missing, only the ruins of the Murugan temple remain. There is the Sundeswarar shrine. There is Nandi Mandapam. Here it is special that both Sundeswarar and Sundeswari are in the same shrine. # “With the kind permission of Sri Kadambur K. Vijayan, these are extracted from his posts”.
