Introduction
On the way from Cheyyur to Villupuram, before Tindivanam, Sevur is located in a town called kilmavilangal. The Cave is dedicated to Lord Vishnu on a rock in the town It is also known as the ‘Mukarap Perumal Temple’. This is a very small cave. It is said to be the smallest cavern in the throat region known so far. There are no pillars so far. Behind this is an embossed sculpture of Vishnu standing on the wall. The faade has gatekeeper embossed sculptures on either side of the tunnel. An inscription is found near the entrance of the cave. It is believed to date back to the time of Mahendravarman. However, due to the nature of the sculpture, some scholars believe that it may have belonged to the period between Rajasimhan and Nandivarman. The cave is under the control of the Archaeological Survey of India.
