Introduction
Elangadu is a beautiful little town located at a distance of 8 km from Vandavasi in Thiruvannamalai district. There is an ancient temple called Vaikundavasa Perumal in this town called Bhuminila Sametha. This temple has been Kshetra special in times before. The temple must have been a huge historical place of importance during the reigns of the Chola and Pallava kings. The temple has been celebrating Thiruvarathanam for about 3000 years. Perumal stands at a height of 7 feet. Once upon a time, great saints lived in Agraharam. They have always lived with Vedic chants and vedic sacrifices. The temple ceremonies were halted because none of the Agraharavas were in the town and there was no income for the temple. The daily Thiruvarathanam is held only with the help of the Agraharavas. During the time, the Karpagraham, Arthamandapam,Mahamandapam, etc were completely destroyed. Now the temple is in a state of disrepair. If this is not rectified immediately, there is a risk of damage to the idol of Perumal.
