Introduction

                            Palur Shiva Temple is located in the Palur village, Tharangambadi circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu.Four km west of Porayar and one km south of Tirukkalecherry is Palur village, a small village surrounded by paddy fields. There are three small temples in this village, Vinayagar, Kaliamman and Shiva Temple.  At the end of the town is a single sanctum sanctorum temple of Lord Shiva. Here the Presiding deity is called as Shiva in the form of medium sized Lingam and Nandi in the front of the lord. The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.
