Introduction

                Kottur Shiva Temple is located in the Kottur village, Thiruvidaimarudur circle, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. On the Suryanarkoil – Kanjanur main road on the right hand side of the place there is a royal tree opposite to which the front arch hall of the Kottur Shiva Temple has collapsed. Only the sanctum sanctorum of Amman and Swami Remains, a nagar and a linga pot are kept aside. The Temple was completely in ruins. This Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.
