Introduction

                Bamandur Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Bamandur village, Thiruthurapoondi circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Bamandur is two kilometres away on a small road going west from Urgachanam stop, which was earlier known as Bambubukundanallur; in the northern part of the town, the Shiva temple, Mariamman temple and all the temples together are in a large area. This small Shiva temple is located on the bank of Periyakulam towards the east. There are duvarapalaks at the front gate of the temple. There is also a back altar. There is nothing like sanctum sanctorum, Varadarajaperumal has a temple as Sreedevi and Bhudevi in the south-west.  Nearby, Sandesar is housed in a loft-like shrine. The temple is only for a period of worship. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.
