Introduction

At a distance of 7 km southeast of Chidambaram, the Kollidam River divides into two, three and wide, and between the rivers is a large plateau with greenery. This is what is known as the ‘River Island’ The only way to get to such a plateau is to win over the coastal village of Kolli. Formerly a riverside town, it is now a small village. The ruined Shiva temple from the Kolli coast was later rebuilt on a small scale within the town, and a Ganesha temple was also built nearby. Other lingams and idols in the temple are lying near the temple. To the north of the temple is a large pond. Lord – Sundareswarar Goddess – Soundarya Nayaki Ganesha Temple Shiva Temple both face east,
