- Location: Situated in Yanamadurru Village, near Bhimavaram, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh.
- Historical Significance: This ancient temple dates back over 1000 years and is unique in India for depicting Lord Shiva in the Sirsa Asana posture alongside Goddess Parvati and a three-month-old Subramanya.
- Local Discovery: During excavations, a 6-foot snake idol was discovered, believed to represent Lord Subramanya, and is now installed in the temple.
- Alternative Names: Also known as Sri Parvati Sameta Sri Shakteeshwara Swamy Vaari Temple or simply Sri Shakteeshwara Temple.
Puranic Significance
- Mythological Connection: Yanamadurru is associated with Yama, the god of death. A demon named Sambhera troubled the region, prompting the locals to seek Yama’s help.
- Divine Intervention: Unable to defeat the demon alone, Yama sought Lord Shiva’s assistance. While Shiva was in meditation, Goddess Parvati, holding baby Subramanya, intervened and bestowed Yama with divine strength.
- Victory and Settlement: With Parvati’s blessing, Yama defeated Sambhera and requested Shiva and Parvati to settle in the village in the same posture they were seen in Kailash. This led to the establishment of the temple to protect the region from demons and diseases.

- Ancient Murti: The idol worshipped in the shrine is believed to date back to the Treta Yuga.
- Lord Shakteeshwara: The presiding deity is known as Shakteeshwara and also referred to as Shirshasana Swamy.
