Introduction
Location:
- Situated in West Mambalam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
- Located on Apparswami Street, approximately 100 meters from Madras Kali Bari Temple, 1.5 km from Mambalam Railway Station, and 11 km from Chennai Airport.
Historical Background:
- Constructed in 1978, as per the inscriptions found in the temple.
- Built by Mr. Poongavana Nayakar.
- Known as Putru Koil due to the presence of an ant hill (Putru), believed to be older than the temple itself, suggesting the site was a place of worship even before the temple’s construction.
Temple Architecture:
- The temple faces north and has a 3-tier Rajagopuram.
- Presiding Deity: Angala Parameswari Amman, depicted in a sitting posture.
- Simha (lion) and Balipeedam are positioned in front of the sanctum.
- Koshta Idols around the sanctum walls include Ganapathy, Dakshinamoorthy, and Siva Durgai.
