Lord Shiva blessed both of them. Parasuramar is worshiped as Parasuramalingam in the Shiva Prakaram. Shiva, who appeared before Sage Jamatakni, appears in the form of a small pot with the name Jamatakneeswarar. Nearby is the shrine of Lord Vishnu. When passing through this area with fireballs at night, the fireballs will automatically go out and start burning as soon as it crosses the border. To keep this going for several days, the king asked a shepherd who was herding cattle in the forest if there was anything special in the place. The shepherd said he saw cows milking spontaneously here and there. The king dug the ground with an ax and blood came out. The king was further upset to see that there was a Shiva lingam to explore the place and that the ax silk blood was coming from the top of its pot, and then he said that he had done so to let the Lord know where he was through Asari. He ordered the king to build a temple at this place. According to legend, the king built a temple on the same spot where the Shiva lingam was. Even today one can still see what looks like an ax-cut scar pit in the Shiva lingam. At this point the source has arisen with a high degree of self lingam. Ithalam got its name from the fireball Tri Ninra Ur and now it is known as Maruvi Thiruninriyoor.
