Introduction

Radhanallur Sadasivamurthy Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva, located in the Radhanallur village, Sirkazhi circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. Here the presiding deity is called as Sadasivamurthy and Mother is called as Shanthanayaki.  This small village is very quiet. The temple is also very small Shiva temple.

Puranic Significance

The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old. Lord Sathasivamurthy is seated in the form of a large linga, has an east facing sanctum. To his right is a separate sanctum of Ganesha. Before him is a long front hall. Ambikai Shantanayaki has a separate sanctum to the south outside the hall. Prakaram is where Rasi Nakshatra Devas, Along with them, Murugan Valli Deivan has a sanctum. Bhairava Navagraha and Sun are in North East side of the temple.

In the sixteenth century, Saiva Hamanappa Navalar, who considered Saivism and Tamil as his life’s charity, built a temple for Satasivamurthy and Ambikai Shantanayaki in this village. Over time the temple built by him fell into disrepair and the people of the village united and rebuilt this temple. Newly from other places, the 12 zodiac signs and 27 stars have their deities idolized and taken as shrines. Names of each demigod and its Rasi / Nakshatra names are written in the idols.
