Introduction
Puthagaram Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva, located in the Puthagaram village, Koothanallur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Puttagaram is located in the southern part of Senthangudi along the Shiva temple road towards the east. There is a Vaishnava temple nearby. There are two large ponds nearby the temple.
This east-facing shrine has an arthamandapam with a conical roof at the front. This is a Five hundred years old Shiva temple. In front of it is a very modern concrete mandapam. Ambigai is facing south. Karurai clans include Tenmugan, Lingod and Durga. Vinayagar temple in the south-west and Murugan temple in the north-west are smaller in size. The Navagraha Mandapam in the northeast is a recent concrete mandapam. The temple cannot be said to be well maintained. The eastern and southern gates of the temple are lined with bundles of paddy. So there is no source of income for the temple. In the cycle of time, Shiva spends the days with as many devotees as he can.
