Introduction

Prabhas Patan Sun Temple is dedicated to Lord Surya, Located in the Prabhas Patan. Prabhas Patan, also known as Somnath Patan or Prabhas Kshetra, historically named Dev Patan, is an area situated in Veraval, Gir Somnath district in Saurashtra region of Gujarat, India. Here the Primary deity is Lord Surya. Situated adjacent to the Sita Mata Temple, it has an imposing entrance porch, and idols of the Sun God and his two attendants. This Shiva temple may have been in big temple at one time. Now the temple is in dilapidated condition. The antrala and the mandapa are lost completely. It is believed that this temple was built in 14th Century CE. Today, Government and peoples have not taken any care for this type of our ancient heritage. Murti of Bhagwan Surya is not here in Temple now.
