Introduction
Perunthalaikkudi Sri Agnipureeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Perunthalaikkudi village, Kilvelur circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. This is a small Shiva temple. Here the Primary deity is called as Agnipureeswarar and Mother is called as Abayambigai. This Shiva temple is proud to be associated with the Mahabharata epic.
Puranic Significance
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. This temple is worshiped by Lord Arjuna and hence is called Arjuneswarar (now it is known as Agnipureeswarar). To the east of the temple is a medium-sized lingamurthi of the Lord. Ambikai is also facing south with a beautiful posture. Outside the sanctum, directly opposite the Lord, there is the Nandhi mandapam and altar is there. Among the sanctum are Tenmugan and Lingōdbhava. Navagraha is in North East side. There is a large deep pond on the south side of the temple which is known as Theerthakulam of this temple.
