Introduction

Narasinghamangalam Vanmeekanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Narasingamangalam village, Nagai circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. The temple is located on the road side of the village and is spread over an acre of land and there is a pond near the temple. Here the Presiding deity is called as Vanmeekanathar and Mother is called as Kamalambikai. The Lord sanctum is towards the east and Ambigai sanctum is towards the south side. Both the sanctuaries are connected by a small hall.

Puranic Significance

“Narasimhamangalam” because the town was built during Narasimha Varman’s time and is now known as Singamangalam. The name of the Lord is Vanmeekanathar because he is the Lord who was found from a giant snake in ancient times. The age of the Lord and temple is somewhat confirmed, it is within Thousand hundred years old. After years, the villager reconstructed this temple which was very dilapidated and consecrated it in 2011.

A medium-sized Lingamurti of the Lord and a beautifully shaped Ambhika, Nandi Mandapam is situated in a hall outside the front hall. On the walls of the sanctum sanctorum, there is a name called Vinayagar. Maybe if you find the person who had the burial, this name can be. Next are Thenmukhan and Lingodpavar Brahman Durga; She brings her beauty to the temple for Sunday worship.

The Prakara temples are for Vinayagar and Vallitheivanai samedhamurugan, Navagraga and Bhairava are located in the northeast. An idol of a durga with a broken arm and an idol of a single weapon are lying outside the temple.
