Introduction
Muthiyapuram Siddhivinayakar Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, located in the Muthiyapuram town, Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu. Here the Primary deity is called as Siddhuvinayakar.
Puranic Significance
The original name of Thoothukudi is Thirumandranagar. In Tiruchendur, after the completion of the Surasamharam, Indra’s daughter, Deivanai, is married to Muruga. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati come to witness the marriage of Lord Muruga and stay at this place surrounded by the sun. At that time, Ambiga asked Lord Shiva to teach him the Veda Mantra. The place where Thiruthala Matal received devotion to the Lord was called Thirumantranagar.
In the center of the large hall towards the east is a large sanctum; at the front there is a 20-feet high hall and a circular hall. Behind the temple is a large royal tree and adjacent to it is a small Perumal sanctum. Near to the west is the Anjaneyar sanctum. Behind the Vinayagar sanctum are Nagaraja and Avaradhurani. Adjacent to it to the east, Kasi Vishwanath and Visalakshi live nearby. In the next sanctum is the Vallitheivanai sammedamurugan sanctum, with Ananda Nadarajar sivakami in a chapel to the south. The temple premises are so clean and tidy. There is no doubt that this temple is the paradise of Thoothukudi. The Temple is believed to be 500 years old.
