Introduction

Mummoorthy Vinayagar Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha located in Melamaruthuvakudi Village near Aduthurai Town in Thiruvidaimarudur Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. This temple is considered as one of the oldest temples in Maruthuvakudi. The Temple is situated on the southern bank of Veera Cholan River.

Puranic Significance 

This is a small temple facing towards east. This Temple has no Vimana and Gopuram. The main deity, Lord Vinayaga housed in the sanctum is believed to lie in the Samadhi (tomb of a saint).There are three idols, which is unusual for Ganesh temples. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old
