Introduction
Marungoor Shiva Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva, located in the Marungoor village, Nagapattinam district, Tamilnadu. Marungoor is located 2 km south of Thirumarugal. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old Shiva temple. This Shiva Temple is located in the middle of Agrahara Street in the town. The main temple gate is to the south. The presiding deity Lord Sundareswarar has a sanctum facing east and Goddess Soundaranayaki has a sanctum facing south. Connecting the two sanctuaries is a large square hall in which Nandi faces the Lord. To the right of the entrance hall of the sanctum sanctorum is a Saturn facing east. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple is surrounded by a high platform, which looks like a temple rising four feet above the ground. Dakshnamoorthy, Perumal and Durga are in the sanctum sanctorum. The place of Brahman is empty. Sanders are in the usual place. A separate sanctum for Ganesha and Valli are the same as Sametha Murugan. A separate temple has been built for Iyappan in the northwest (new addition).
