Introduction
Kudivandai Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva, located in the Kudivandai, Devarmalai, Karur district, Tamil Nadu. The temple is built by bricks in the 8th century by the Pandyas, this temple was rebuilt as a big temple in the 12th century by the Cholas. During the Third Kulothungacholan period, Kudamukku festival was held.
The single storey temple has a sanctum sanctorum and an arthamandapam. The entire plane of the womb is damaged. On the top floor, a big tree is sprouting and ruining through the building.
There are no idols in the koshtas around the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. A 5 feet high Sivalinga was consecrated and worshiped during the Pandya period. Bricks and tiles of that time can be seen around the temple. The statue of Nandi has been damaged as a result of someone rolling it down from the hill. There are two small water bodies on the western side of the temple. This temple is located on a hill near the village of kudivandai at a distance of 4 km to the east of Kujiliampara on the road from Dindigul to Karur.
