Introduction
Kattanagaram Vishwanathar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Kattanagaram village, Thiruvidaimarudur circle, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. Here the presiding deity is called as Vishwanathar and Mother is called as Vishalakshi. Kattanagaram is small village near Thiruvidaimarudur. This is a small Shiva temple facing east at the front of the town. Lord has sanctum facing east. Adjacent to the sanctum sanctorum is the front hall. On top of it there is a bull statue and a statue where the Lord is seated. The Lord is a medium sized linga murti. There is a separate sanctum for Vinayaka to the right of the Lord, and the Lord has a separate sanctum towards the south and the three sanctums are separate. It may be a temple built by Rishis, who had returned from Kashi. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. It is not well maintained and can see that it has been flooded for many years.
