Introduction

Sri Agnilingeshwarar temple is dedicated to lord Shiva located in the Chidambaram City, Cuddalore district, Tamilnadu. There were Shiva temples around the Thillai temple in all the thirty-two parts of the city of Chidambaram, and some of the lingamurthys that have disappeared over time are one such Agnilingeswarar. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. This temple can be considered as the sixth part of the temple. There is an apartment here on the ground floor. The apartment is built slightly apart from the temple. With the small sanctum facing west, the Lord is majestically a large lingam. On one side of the front gate is the large Ganesha shrine and on the other side are the Nagas are worshiped. Looking at the character of the idols it seems that we have lost a great temple. Agneswarar is in not good shape, if you visit and worship the Agni Linga, you will get rid of the harassment and worries of the enemies and you will have a disease free life.
