Puranic Significance

Name Origin: The name “Paschimesvara” is derived from the temple’s location, as it is situated on the western side of the Bindusagar Lake. “Paschima” means west, and “Isvara” refers to Lord Shiva. Therefore, the temple is often associated with being the “Lord of the West.”
Construction History: The temple is believed to have been constructed during the 8th century CE, during the rule of the Bhaumakara Dynasty. It is an ancient temple with a rich history, and its architectural style and design are reflective of the times in which it was built.
