Puranic Significance

One day a monkey was fighting for its life when it was hit by a vehicle on the road and no one tried to save it except for the many people who went to see the fun. At this point, a student who had passed through the area saw a monkey lying on the ground and tried to save it by pronouncing the name of Rama but his attempt was in vain and he died shortly afterwards. The boy dug a ditch by hand in an empty land near the road and left the monkey in the shape of a sand tower to mark it. From the next day onwards he used to pluck the flowers before going to school every day and leave them to worship at the place where the monkey was buried. A few days later an Anjaneyar image was placed at the place and after that Hanuman came to worship with a toy. Realizing that Hanuman’s grace was perfect in that place, the boy told his parents that he wanted to build a temple there. One day he met the woman who owned the land and expressed his desire to build a temple on the site. The boy then went among the people all around and asked for financial help to build the temple. With the help of a few, he finally made a small statue of Hanuman and built a small temple under the gutter shed. After that they came there and worshiped and excelled in life. So it grew a little bit and was built next to it and is currently a special temple in Cuddalore district
