Introduction

Alathur Airavatheeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Alathur village, Nagai circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. The name of the lord is Airavatheeswarar because Airavata is the worshiped Lord. Here the Primary deity is called as Airavatheeswarar and his facing towards the west side. The temple main gate is in the west. A large pond is behind the temple. Entering from the west through the long cement path, worship Vinayaka in the southwest and then go to worship the Lord, the name of Vinayaka is Siddhivinayakar. Here the Lord is middle-sized lingamurti, goddess name is unknown. The murthys are kept separate as there is a platform in front of the Lord. Murugan Vallitheivan is a shrine in the northwest. As usual, Sandesar is near the face of the Lord. All fields are empty. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. Soon the renovation works will be completed and we will visit the Lord with a beautiful temple.
