  3. Discovery of Sculpture: A rare and historically significant sculpture was discovered by officials from the Archaeology Department at the Akaram Sun Temple. The sculpture depicts an act of devotion known as “Veera Vrataham,” which involves ardent devotees of Lord Shiva, also known as Veera Shaivulus, sacrificing their lives. In the sculpture, a Veera Shaivulu is depicted sitting in Siddasana (a yogic posture) and is shown chopping off his own head. This form of sacrifice was performed by Veera Shaivulus during certain circumstances, such as when their king faced defeat in a war or on special occasions.

A proposal for the reconstruction of the temple has been sent to higher authorities. The temple is in a dilapidated state, with two sides requiring attention. It is considered more suitable to undertake reconstruction rather than mere renovation.
