The town comes to a halt on the road from Thirukalukundram to Chengalpattu, which crosses the village of Chaganti at the junction of Pillarmedu. Thiruvanaikoil Temple is an ancient town located here. In ancient times, Lord Vali was worshiped here and the Lord is called Thiruvaleswarar. The 1000-year-old temple is now in ruins. “With the kind permission of Sri Kadambur K. Vijayan, these are extracted from his posts”.
Puranic Significance
The temple is a thousand years old. Outside the temple is a statue of Ganesha and a statue of Goddess Sheshta. Lord Name #Thiruvaleswarar. Goddess Name #Tripurasundari..Lord is looking east. The goddess is looking south. The east side doorway is set with a marble window. Nandi is outside the window and they call it Rajanandi. Here Ganesha is situated in a different form. There is a small Nandi-altar opposite the lingam. Goddess Tripurasundari blesses us on a 4 feet high pole. Statues of Ganesha, Dakshinamoorthy, Vishnu, Brahma and Durga are located around the sanctum sanctorum. There are beautiful small sculptures on the bottom and side of each statue. There are a lot of inscriptions around the sanctuary.
Beliefs
Usually in the temples they would fold the Kuṅkumam, vipūti, bag and bring it to the Swami’s feet to see if what we thought would work. When it comes to what we think, we believe that Swami has given us orders. Some temples have flower arrangements. If we pray in this temple the priest will leave us in front of the sanctuary and go outside. We can earnestly pray to the Lord. The bat is flying from the womb if we make up our minds. Sometimes the lizard breaks out from inside. The priest says that the Lord came in the form of a serpent and commanded some. We can confirm what the Lord has commanded by the coming of the Jīva signs of life.
Special Features
The sunlight falling on the lingam through the window sill located on the east side takes place twice a year. The same goes for Ganesha. The sun’s rays also fall on Lord Murugan. The sun shines on the goddess on the full moon coming in the month of February. Sunlight falls on all the idols on a particular day of the year.
Festivals
The anointing of the Lord here is done in the morning and evening with pure cow’s milk. There are special anointings and decorations for every Pradosa worship, full moon-new moon worship, and all special occasions.
