Introduction
Thubon is located in Ashok Nagar district of Madhya Pradesh. In Thubon, there are 3 or 4 groups of Mandapika Temples. Sitamarhi Group of Temples is one of them. The Sitamarhi group contains 15 temples both small and big temple located 2 kilometers south of village Thubon. This was a center of Shaiva relegious practices during 10th- 11th century A.D. The site can be approached by a kachha road. Out of fifteen temples fourteen are positioned within a temple- complex while one temple is standing separately on northern side of main temple complex about 500 m. away. The complex consists of a main big temple dedicated to lord Shiva at the centre surrounded by 13 small mandapika type of shrines all are dedicated to Shiva . Some of the shrines are in ruins state. A 9th century temple in complete ruins awaiting restoration in Thubon. Built by Gurjar Pratihars. Several temples in similar ruins here, awaiting restoration. Vandalized by Islamic invaders.
