Puranic Significance
In the middle of the vast expanse is the Sri Komalavalli Udanurai Pulinkeswar Temple. Due to changes in the soil during the rainy and sunny seasons in the field, the temple sanctum sanctorum cracks and the Ambika sanctum sanctorum and the Murugan Ganesha temples are destroyed. The rest of the Lord is in a state of fear that the sanctuary will also fall on the idol. So the idols are kept temporarily in a separate shed. The temple is owned by the Karkartha Velala family deity. Temple maintenance and worship seem to have been abandoned due to lack of proper path facilities. The goddesses who came to pluck the flowers to the earth for the worship of Indra saw the goddess and began to stay and worship here. Indra sent Kamadenu to worship the Lord. History has it that Indra sent his white elephant to go in search of Kamdenu, and that too worshiped the Lord and stood there. Indra, who did not understand anything, set out on his own, sought out, understood the situation, and worshiped the Lord, the city got its name from the fact.
