Introduction
From Karuveppilankurichi – Pennadam is located at NH141, at distance of 10km the Maligaikottam village is located. To the south was the Chola palace fortified by the flood and the adjoining forests. This Place was similar to the present study house. Thus the area is called the “Kottam”. Kottaikadu and Sundara cholapuram still exist today. There was a big Shiva temple here then. Today only Lingam and Nandi are left. The Shiva Temple is located on a small dirt road leading to the Essar Fueling Station on the main road. Near to the temple, liquor shop is also located. There is only one fence between the temple and the liquor store.
Puranic Significance
Large complex in which the great Shiva lingam on the high platform facing east is very majestic. In front of him is a Nandiyamperuman with a broken nose. To the south is a small balcony-like structure under a vamp with Ganesha flower decoration. A woman maintains the temple. The area where the Nandi altar is made of tin roof but only a cloth is placed on top of the four-sided iron frames built on top of the Lord. The works have come to a standstill without putting tin on top. He was the one who had the fort in the mansion that day, and today he is on display without even a tin. “With the kind permission of Sri Kadambur K. Vijayan, these are extracted from his posts”.
