Introduction

On the south side of Kumbakonam, next to the church is the town of Injikollai. Most temple cities have several walls built one after the other, except for one perimeter wall. The city of Tirucherai must have been a fortified city with more than one perimeter wall around it. The area with the largest wide perimeter wall can be interpreted as the current Injikollai. Today Injikollai is a quiet village. There is a maximum of four streets in which the Shiva temple is located on Agrahara Street in the north-south. The temple faces east and the faade is open. The sanctum sanctorum of the Lord is facing east, Viswanatha is beautifully small and the sanctum sanctorum is facing south. Is under the control of the Department of HR&CE. Puranic Significance

Before the Lord is the Artha Mandapam with its formerly open front hall built on the last canopy. It is a rare sight to see Vallabhanapati with Vallabhbhi at the gate of the sanctum sanctorum. Subramanian is in the right canopy. Ganesha and Thenmugan are in the sanctum sanctorum. To the north is a large-scale Vanadurga goddess with a beautiful view. Since this Durga is not the size for this temple, maybe this wall area is Durga. According to the temples Kannimoolai Ganapati, Anjaneyar may be the new addition to the sanctum sanctorum in the north. Sanders is in its usual place. To the northeast are Bhairavar and Surya nathar. Lord Saturn facing east has a separate shrine. Temple will Opens and closes in puja times.
