Introduction

Sri Varaniswarar Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva located in the Chidambaram City, Cuddalore district, Tamilnadu. Here the presiding deity is called as Varaniswarar, mother is called as Visalatchi. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. Similarly, around the ThillaiperunKoil, there were thirty-two Dikku temples. This Varaniswarar Temple is one of the few that still exists today. Here is the west facing temple on the side of the small street; The Lord has the Varaniswarar sanctum as a medium-sized lingamurti. Nearby is the Visalachchi in a south-facing canopy and a Ganesha in a north-facing canopy.
